1.5 liters of drinking water is the minimum for 72 hours of medical survival. 0.5 liters per day is used as standard in aviation and maritime survival kits. This emergency kit contains 4 liters of long-life water and thus provides some extra water reserve. Be realistic when filling your emergency backpack that it will not be too heavy to carry. 1 liter of water weighs 1 kilogram! The backpack now weighs about 10.5 kg.
