The PGD U-line NIJ level 4 SA side plates are single-curve designs designed to provide additional protection to the sides of the torso, complementing the front and back plates in body armor or plate carriers. Side plates are used to protect vital organs such as the heart, kidneys, and liver without significantly reducing mobility or comfort in high-risk environments where threats can also come from the side, such as trenches or other tactical situations.
Product Features
The plate is made of Monolithic SiC, meaning that a large piece of ceramic is attached to the front of the hard body armor. The plate is covered with a very thin foam layer to protect the ceramic from impact, extreme temperatures such as heat and cold, and to absorb flak from bullet impacts. Furthermore, the plate is encased in a 100% water-resistant Cordura sheath, which provides protection against water, oil, and other similar liquids, ensuring the plate's integrity and durability under various conditions.
